About this role

Essential Functions

  • Cooperate in development, implementation and assessment of the Industrial Hygiene and Safety programs
  • Direct employee engagement activities such as risk assessments and raising general safety awareness to employees, managers and other stakeholders
  • Report unsafe/unhealthy conditions and make recommendations for correction
  • Conduct safety audits and inspect facilities within the area of responsibility to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with regulatory laws
  • Analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports and regulatory documents to identify potential impacts to the site
  • Provide guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed NL regulations
  • Train staff in safety procedures, including specialized safety trainings and annual refresher trainings
  • Serve as point of contact for regulatory bodies
  • Manage functions or projects and may have supervisory responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

About you

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant technical or engineering discipline, and HVK-certificate and four (4) years of experience in Health & Safety, OR Master’s Degree in relevant discipline and HVK-certificate and two (2) years of experience in Health and Safety
  • Ability to communicate in Dutch and English both verbally and in writing with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards. Solid communication skills in both languages verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of applicable national, provincial and local laws, statutes, regulations, rules, policies and procedures
  • Health and Safety experience, preferably on a manufacturing plant
  • Strong communication skills
